Piano sheet music with letters
Every melody begins with a few letters. Find named pitches, hear how they fit together, and enjoy your next small breakthrough.
How to read piano letter notes
The seven natural note names are A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. C4 is middle C. A # means move one semitone higher, usually to the black key immediately to the right. The number after a letter identifies the octave. Notes inside brackets belong together, while a dash leaves a rest.
A little tip: Start with Ode to Joy: its first phrase stays close to five neighboring white keys.
- 01Say the first eight note names out loud.
- 02Find those keys before pressing Play.
- 03Listen at half speed, then play along with the highlights.
